I will start this one off by introducing myself. I am Caroline & I run Vale Wildlife Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre, along with 11 other staff & loads of volunteers. Vale is a very busy hospital particularly at this time of year with young mouths to feed constantly from first thing in the morning until last thing at night.
Let's hear something about other new members on here.......
My name is Ang, I work at the Vale Wildlife Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre, as a full-time wildlife care assistant, I have been here for just under 18 months now, and I find it one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever done, and I can't imagine that I will do anything else now, everyday is different, getting up close to wildlife is such a privilege, helping them to return back to their natural enviroment.

Hi. My name is Hannah. I live in Cheltenham with my boyfriend Dave and hamster Annabel. I work in Tewkesbury as a trainee accountant. I enjoy reading, skiing, snow boarding and playing the violin. I love animals (my boyfriend laughs at me for my obsession with moving snails out of harm's way when they stray onto foot paths or roads!). I heard about the centre last week when you appealed for tinned pet food on Severn Sound. I will volunteering starting in August.
Hi Hannah Great to have you on-board. This is a very new forum but I hope it becomes a lot more popular. Encourage your friends to join too. Glad to hear you are coming to volunteer with us, we always need more volunteers & I'm sure you will enjoy working with our 'mad' team. If I can answer any wildlife queries, I will & we look forward to meeting you soon.
Looks like I am member number 9 - surprised there aren't a few more people around.
Anyway - I'm Gary, I volunteer at VWR in the evenings, currently just filling in where there are gaps. I have already learnt a lot from the various wildlife care assistants who have been very generous in passing on their knowledge.
I am pretty keen on wildlife, I try my hand at wildlife photography whenever I can. Its nice to feel I am putting a little bit back in.
My name is Kat - I'm 34 years old, mum to three monkeys aged 16, 11 & 8, caregiver to a domestic menagerie (dogs, cats, rats, fish - it's the circle of life in this house!) as well as any wildlife waifs and strays that happen to come my way.
I was on the Wildlife rescue, care and rehabilitation course with Caroline and Martin this year which was an inspiration and I'm greatly appreciative for the insight and knowledge they have shared.
Obviously I'm passionate about British wildlife - I'm also a keen conservationist, environmentalist, history geek, ebay fanatic and so much more.
It's fantastic to see a forum on here at long last and here's hoping it's popularity grows - anything that allows people to come together on a common goal can only be a good thing!
Hi Kat Great to have you on board & glad you enjoyed the course. Our forum is taking off very slowly, I hope that it becomes more popular as people get to hear about it. Spread the word amongst everyone you know. Take a look at my Blog too, you might find it interesting.
Hi, I am Selena I have been following Vale for a few years now, as i did a weeks Work experience back in 1995! and apparently was one of the best that they had had there for a long time! You will often see my mum, my son and my self at the carboot sales on a Saturday. I am a qualified Veterinary Nurse with a qualification in Exotic and Wildlife Nursing I'm currently a full time mum but still like to keep up todate with the animals and whats on in the area.
Hi Selena, welcome to Vale's forum. Perhaps you should come & do some voluntary work with us. We could use people like you. How did you enjoy your work experience with us all those years ago?
I'm Ross, and finally got round to joining! I'm a computer applications support analyst, and I'm also Gary's partner.
I used to keep and compete horses, but have given up now and taken up wildlife photography. I've been helping out at the wildlife hospital this summer, when they have been short of volunteers, and thoroughly enjoying the learning process.
I'm Eileen. I've held various voluntary positions within Vale Wildlife for the past 14 years until I settled on fund-raising! As most of you who read this forum may know, we need £18,000 a month just to keep going so I am pleased to be able to help raise a little towards that.
I love foxes and also have a passion for pond life. The only thing that I have ever encountered at Vale Wildlife that has frightened me was a giant centipede! Luckily we don't get too many!!
I've just registered here, my name is Michel Voorn, and I'm living in the Netherlands. A bit unusual for this forum maybe
By following wildlife hospital documentairies and documentaries I got interested in all what has to do with wildlife hospital. Here in the Netherlands we don't have them, well, I haven't found one yet, strangely enough, still searching though. I hope to volunteer for one someday :)
Welcome to our forum - our first Member from abroad. We have spoken before on another forum, don't know if you remember? You said you would come & visit us if you are in the UK.
If you have any questions about UK wildlife or about wildlife rehabilitation, please ask.

I've been in London twice, last week and end of august, but no time for a visit. As it looks now, there is a chance I go to London again in february 2008, will see if I can manage a visit.
